The Polar Express

Oh how I love Christmas jammies.


Grandma and Grandpa Cutler treated the family to the Polar Express the week of Thanksgiving. Thanks mom and dad! It was a great kick off to the Christmas holiday. It was so much fun. Dylan loved it! It was so fun to see all the kids and how excited they were to see Santa. Dylan loved to be in a moving vehicle and not strapped in a car seat. He wanted to stand most of the time and check everything out. We have been lucky and so far he has not been scared of Santa. Uncle Jared bought all of the kids a train whistle and I feel like I am having it shoved in my mouth a million times a day. He loves it! Santa gave him a jingle bell and he loves to shake shake it! He sure has been a crack up lately. He is talking a lot and mimics us all day long. He sure makes everything about this time of year twice the fun!

Enjoying Fall

Nothing too new around the Davis house. We've just been trying to spend a lot of time outdoors while its still nice weather. Dylan has been walking for about a month now and is all over the place! He is quite the character and still never stops moving unless he's watching one of "his shows". Baby Einsteins are a life saver!

Happy Halloween

Halloween was great this year! Dylan was a lion and he had a pretty sweet growl going on. He loved getting his face painted. He held so still (which he never does). We "Trick or Treated" about 10 doors and he loved it. He loved to walk up to the doors and "pat pat pat" them. He liked to pick his own candy out of the bowl. At one house he picked a full size Oh Henry bar. He carried it around the whole block. I swear this boy could eat chocolate all day long. He loves picking through his pumpkin bowl and getting treats.

Exhausted...this was before we even got started!




This litle lion is on the run these days. Now that he is walking everywhere it is like a whole new world opened up to him. I could hardly get him to hold still for 2 seconds to take a picture. As a result we took lots of video footage.



Dylan wasn't too into carving pumpkins. You have to sit still in one area too long for that. He kept trying to pull the guts out of the garbage can to play with...since we weren't exactly thrilled about that idea he was stuck with the seeds that fell on the floor. We took turns digging them out of his mouth! He really liked the pumpkins once they were outside and lit!

Yay! This is my first video that I have ever posted. Dylan was constantly growling like a lion, but we could not get him to do it on film. This was the best we could get!

St. George

We went to St. George last week for about a week. It was a great time. It has turned into a tradition to take a Davis family trip down the first weekend in October. Jeff's dad runs the marathon. He wasn't able to run this year because of an ankle injury, but we still made the trip and it was much needed!



Daddy and Dyl chilling in the hotel. Dylan loves having control of the remote. He's always turning the volume up really loud and changes channels until he finds cartoons. Pretty funny.


Dylan loved the trip. He got constant attention from everyone. He has started taking steps which is adorable. He takes 10-15 before he stops to crawl. It is so cute. He is pretty proud of himself. A lot of the time he sits and claps for himself afterwards.

This is how you often find Dylan. He has to have a phone in his hand. If you want to be his friend you just give him your phone and you'll be best buddies. Grandma and grandpa were down for the first 3 days. It was great because Dylan loves his grandparents. He wanted nothing to do with me or Jeff because Grandma and Grandpa are way cooler. They let him do whatever he wants and don't get after him like Mom and Dad! Grandma always has something for him in her purse and lets him destroy her phone! It was a nice break for me! G-ma and G-pa put him to sleep every night and played with him all day and we just relaxed! Thank you!

A major reason for the trip was to meet baby Kade. He is such a cutie! He has the cutest smile and used it often when looking at Dylan. Dylan sometimes paid attention to him, but mostly he didn't like when Grandma was holding him. It was a crack up to watch. She would hold Kade and the next thing we knew Dylan was dropping what he was doing and racing over to hang on her leg until she passed the baby to me and picked him up. He's not used to sharing on this side of the family. Grandma spoils them rotten! I'm not sure why I packed Dylan any clothes. The boys had new matching outfits and jammies every day. Dylan didn't exactly love the photo shoots...Kade was much better behaved.

Mr. Kade! He is such a munch mouth and has the most adorable buddha belly. You really just want to rub it. We miss him.



Jeff and Nate were up by 5 about every morning to go fishing. It is amazing how much these 2 love to fish. If we lived close Michelle and I would never see our husbands. They caught quite a bit and had a great time. Michelle and I did leave the boys with their Dads so we could go shopping one afternoon. We were gone for about an hr and a half before the phone calls and texts started coming. Ha ha.



All in all it was a fun get away. On our way home we decided to stop at Cove Fort. We'd never been. It was awesome and packed full of history.

Jeff's Triathlon

Jeff did his first Triathlon last Saturday. He did great and Dylan and I are proud of him. He has been training so hard for the last several months. The race was down at Yuba Lake. We had to leave the house at 4:30 am so we weren't planning on getting much sleep...but Jeff was up at 2 am puking his guts out. Dylan came down with the stomach flu wednesday night and lucky Jeff got it the morning of his tri. He was really sick and I was thinking that he should just stay home in bed, but he was determined to do it since it was his first. He did awesome especially considering the flu drained his energy and he was dehydrated.



Here is Jeff in the transition area getting ready for the first portion. The triathlon starts with the swim. The swim is probably Jeff's strongest event.





Dylan and I loved cheering on our Dad! Dylan got so excited to see him every time he finished a portion. I didn't get a good pic of him crossing the finish line because I was filming. I had my hands a little full with the videocamera, the camera, and Dylan.

Surgery

This cute little man had to have another surgery today. He did really well and we are glad that we were able to come home a few hrs after. We love Dylan's GI doctor. She is so good and always willing to sit down with us and go over everything. Today they looked at all of his anatomy and took several biopsies from his digestive tract to test for allergies and a bunch of other stuff. She even sent us home with a bunch of pictures of the inside of Dylan. Don't worry we won't share those!



He was so hungry and mad before surgery. He finally screamed himself to sleep and so the anesthesiologist let me carry him back to the operating room. I was able to hold him while they put him under anesthesia. It was horrible to see him all floppy and drugged, but I was so happy that they didn't take him away from us kicking and screaming. Once he was under Jeff and I headed to the waiting room to sit with all the other stressed parents.



We were happy to get back to the recovery room to snuggle him while he tried to wake up. It was so cute when he saw us. He practically jumped out of the nurses arms and into mine. Recovery is always a struggle. He wasn't happy about his IV, blood pressure cuff, or sat monitor! So once we got rid of all of that he was much happier.



Seriously though...how cute does he look in his hospital clothes? He's never been able to fit in them for his other surgeries. They were a little bit big, but so stinkin cute.

Now we're home and he has been cracking us up. He crawls a few feet and then lays down to rest. Still a bit unstable on his feet, but starting to act more like himself. He was such a brave boy for surgery number 4.

This little one loves the water. It doesn't matter where or when...He sees water and he needs to be in it. He loves trips to the lake. Dad does some fishing, Dylan plays in the water, and Mom gets some sun. Dylan also gets to have his little grabby hands on a few unfortunate fish!



However...I do have to admit that the first few times he got into the lake I did cringe several times.
1. He gets a bit dirty
2. He licks his chops and I'm sure is getting all sorts of NASTY water in his mouth
3. I'm cleaning sand out of hair, ears, crevices etc for days
4. It's Dirty (Need I say more)

How can I possibly resist this little guy? He loves to get dirty. So yes, I have finally relaxed in the messy department. Don't judge me if my child is filthy! Kids get dirty.




What can be better than snugging up with G-Pa and G-ma?
